Articles and Blogs

Dear Reader,

Here again are some interesting things I have read lately:

“Why You Never Truly Leave High School” by Jennifer Senior– This is a fascinating article about high school, the teen years, how we develop, how we form identities. It makes me glad we homeschool; it also makes me worry about how I will handle the teen years now that oldest is 12.5. Personally, I would be happy never to think about my high school years again.

“Want to Tell the State to Stick it? Homeschool Your Kids” by Bill Flax– This article explains how far from being withdrawn from society, homeschoolers are actually the most American among us.

“Talking Among Ourselves on the Paths of Nature Study” by Jeannette Tulis– I end up loving almost everything I read on ChildlightUSA. This article is no exception. It references Charlotte Mason’s fourth book, Ourselves, which is probably my favorite (but it is so hard to pick). It makes me think we need to be more diligent about nature study though as the highs here lately have been below 20F that is not likely to happen this week. Also, I want a jeweler’s loupe.

Happy reading

Nebby
