I’m under no illusions that my favorite educator, Charlotte Mason, was a reformed Christian, but I have always thought that her philosophy of education sat well with my own reformed, Calvinistic, faith. Recently, in another book I ran across this quote from John Calvin:
“All truth is from God; and consequently, if wicked men have said anything that is true and just; we ought not to reject it; for it has come from God.” (John Calvin, Commentary on Titus 1:2)
Sounds a lot like Mason, doesn’t it? I am not sure if Mason actually said these exact words — “All truth is from God” — but I know that idea is in her writings.
