On Voting for Stupid People

Dear Reader,

I’ve been on vacation and haven’t had time to write a lot so I thought I’d just share a quote from one of the books I’ve been reading. Draw your own conclusions.

“Both the Bible and common sense discourage us from choosing people who are not smart to rule over us.” (J.K. Wall Messiah the Prince Revisited, p. 121)

Yes, yes, yes! I read an article online somewhere that advised people to vote so God would be happy with them….. in other words, don’t choose between two evils. You’re choosing evil. I wish I could find that article…..

    • The book this quote is from, Messiah the Prince Revisited, as well as the book it is based on, Messiah the Prince, definitely seem appropriate this election cycle. I think Christians have gone too far in saying that the candidate’s personal life, personality, etc don’t matter and now when faced with candidates who really turn us off we just don’t know what to do. We don’t have any good criteria left to decide who to vote for or if we should vote at all. Thankfully I haven’t found this within my own church but there is definitely a lot of discord in the wider Christian community over what that right, “Christian” thing to do is.
